  1. Even if you do not take pictures with a Kodak digital camera, you may still encounter a DCR file when downloading a photo from an image-sharing website. You may also receive a DCR image from a friend who owns a Kodak digital camera. In either case, File Viewer Plus is a great option for opening and editing DCR images.
  2. In the same directory to which the USBDRVEN.EXE file was downloaded, double-click to open the Sonyusb folder that was created. In the Sonyusb folder, double-click the Setup.exe file. At the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Sony USB Driver screen, click the Next button.

DCR File Description DCR, short for Director Compressed Resource, is the interactive media file format similar to a Flash (.SWF) file, but generated with Adobe Director rather than Adobe Flash. DCR files are often used for making Web games and other highly interactive media content. Adobe Shockwaver Player is required to play DCR content. DCR is a raw format, meaning that a.dcr file stores uncompressed and generally unprocessed CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensor data in the exact way as the camera 'sees' the picture, along with the time/date information. DCR is a lossless format, and.dcr images are quite large in size. Back then these were called.dcr files and were made by a program called Director. Typically they were used to create interactive menus, logos and even games you could play directly in the browser. If you are like me, you may be wondering how you can view your old.dcr files on your modern Mac or PC.

What is a DCR file?

A DCR file is an interactive media file saved in the Shockwave format for distribution on the web. It is often used for creating web games and other highly interactive content.

DCR files are similar to Flash (.SWF) files, but created with Adobe Director rather than Adobe Flash. Adobe Shockwaver Player can also open the file but runs as a web browser plug-in.

NOTE: Director was originally developed by Macromedia, which was acquired by Adobe at the end of 2005.

.DCR File Association 3

A DCR file is a component resource file created and used by Delphi, a Windows, OS X, Android, and iOS IDE. It contains a compiled resource, which includes a bitmap image that is used as a component icon for the component palette. DCR files should not be deleted.

The DCR file is the same as the binary .RES file generated by Delph. However, it is used to store the component icon instead of the application's main icon.

NOTE: The Delphi IDE includes an image editor that can open and create DCR files
